Grades 8 -12

Online Advanced Debate Program

Advanced Debate Program: For grades 8 to 12 - One year of debate experience and must have participated in some tournaments. 14-week program, 1.5 hours each day. Additional 10 sessions for extra practice during the semester (Tournament Prep).

The class will focus on thoughtful and logical construction of arguments, understanding the order and structure of a debate, and building confidence in delivering speeches. Debate drills, 1:1 mock practice, learn advanced strategies, cross-examination, flowing, and rebuttal. Students practice speaking fluently and persuasively. The coach will introduce advanced topics and expose students to the advanced material. Debate is an excellent activity that enhances your ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and research arguments as they do in the academic realm. A minimum of five students' enrollment is required, with a maximum of 8 students. One to two practices each month will be in-person; the rest of them will be online. No classes during the Fall break (Oct 5-11) and Thanksgiving break. Our coaches support both Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum debate formats.
