Online High School Speech Camp - Extemporaneous Speaking
Online, 2-week Program
United States Extemporaneous or International Extemporaneous Speaking is a speech on current events with limited preparation time. Your understanding of important political, economic, and cultural issues is assessed, but more importantly, your critical thinking and analytical skills are thoroughly evaluated. Students may access the research they brought to the tournament during the 30-minute preparation period. Some tournaments, including the NSDA National Tournament, will permit students to use the internet to research during preparation time. When prep time is up, the student reports to the competition room to deliver a 7-minute speech. There will be no official tournament during the summer camp, but the coach will conduct an in-house tournament on the last day of the camp, where students will deliver speeches with enhanced skills, following a similar format. These are group classes; a minimum of four students is required to get group rates. However, we also offer one-on-one coaching or coaching for fewer than 3 students; different rates apply.
